Contemporary GP practice transforms patient care
Spacious, modern medical centre changes the lives of 6,700 patients in Rowner, Gosport. The ï¿½2.5m practice is for 4 - 6 GPs providing healthcare services.
Brune Medical Centre is a 915 sq m £2.5 million development providing much needed modern accommodation. Previously the GPs shared dated, cramped and inefficient premises nearby.
Accommodating 4-6 GPs, a two surgery NHS dental practice and a private sector provided pharmacy the new medical centre, with a GP practice list of some 6,700 patients, is seen as being instrumental in bringing together a range of primary healthcare professionals within a single premises to support and enhance the delivery of primary care services within the community.
Delivered on budget, on time
This project was completed on time and to budget, has been built using wood from sustainable forests in its timber frame construction with heating provided by bio-fuel boilers.
A spokesperson from the GP practice, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the new premises and with how quickly and how well it has been built for us. We have enjoyed working with SCS and the PCT in establishing this new facility and look forward to having the increased space. This will, in due course, allow us to expand the services which we now offer in Northern Gosport."
With a population of circa 23,500, the Rowner area was formerly a Ministry of Defence housing estate with a variety of dwelling types. It is now designated as a Single Regeneration Budget area, parts of which have a high ratio of deprivation and high turnover of families living in the area. The demography is such that the patient group comprises of a high proportion of young people, single mothers from service families and people of all ages suffering the chronic effects of social deprivation. As such, the Brune Centre is seen as a welcome addition to the community providing much-needed services for a range of requirements.
Bringing together a range of primary healthcare professionals, this new development will support and enhance delivery of primary care services within the community.
Responsibility for the Whole Life Cost (hard FM and life cycle costs) of the facility and Tenants for internal cleaning etc (Soft FM) is included.
